Arab Journalists Union delegates have called on Libyan authorities to respect press freedom laws, following reports of growing threats against journalists working in the country. Television channels and newspapers have come under attack from armed militias across Libya in recent weeks. The union condemned attacks targeting media professionals, claiming it was vital journalism was kept separate from political conflicts. “The Libyan government must interfere immediately to stop these kinds of attacks,” it said in a statement. “Journalists must also commit to principles of neutrality and honest in their reporting.”
