The People's Assembly Committee of Journalism, Printing and Publishing in the presence of Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham and Minister of Information, Omran al-Zoubi held a meeting with the members of the National Media Council, Head of the Journalist Union, Head of the Writers Union and the directors of the media establishments to discuss the ways of improving the national media in the light of the fierce media war imposed on Syria. During the meeting, Speaker al-Laham affirmed that the national media has proven to be the voice of right, which forced the countries involved in the war on Syria to cease the transmission of the Syrian media on their satellites. He added that the Syrian national media offered martyrs not only to defend Syria, but also to defend the Arab Nation, pointing out that the hostile countries are attacking the Syrian media because they are afraid of it. For his part, Minister of Information stressed that the media today is more courageous and free and its platforms are available for all people, including the national opposition, adding that there are no red lines in the dialogue apart from harming Syria's sovereignty and army. The Minister of Information reviewed the Ministry's strategy in the current stage and the pressure imposed on the media cadres such as the operations of kidnapping, assassination and threats. He added that the Ministry is promoting the conception of "State Media", and not the "media of the authority", which is the media that is responsible for all spectrums of the state and that is committed to its firm principles and sovereignty, in addition to touching upon the burdens and views of its people.
