
Reporters Without Borders has enlisted Egyptian journalistAbeer Saady on "100 Information Heroes" list ahead of World Press Freedom Day onMay 3.The organization published the 100 names to honor a wide range of journalists andbloggers who "constantly sacrifice their safety and sometimes their lives to their vocation." The list paid tribute to men and women aged 25-75 years from 65countries.“These ‘information heroes’ are a source of inspiration to all men and men whoaspire to freedom," Reporters Without Borders secretary-general Christophe Deloiresaid."Without their determination and the determination of all those like them, it would be simply impossible to extend the domain of freedom."Abeer Saady has been writing constantly in Arabic and English on the mostimportant subjects for the past 23 years. Whether at the Libyan war front or on thestreets of Cairo, she seems to be everywhere. Hundreds of journalists throughoutthe Middle East know her, as she has given safety training to journalists working inhostile areas in Egypt, Libya, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen, Iraq, Turkey, Jordan, Bahrainand elsewhere.As well as being deputy editor of the daily Al-Akhbar, she has been elected vice-president and member of the board of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate for threeterms, and ran its training department, hosting seminars and training sessions.
