Very limited edition Land Rover Discovery on its way

The Land Rover Discovery 4 will be available as a limited edition HSE Luxury model, come September this year. Only 100 of a total 2000 produced for LR's worldwide markets including Europe and China will come to Australia. The exclusive treatment has been applied to the Discovery 4 SDV6 diesel model (with six-speed automatic). Starting at $109,900, the Discovery Luxury features 20-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, premium audio system from Harmon/Kardon and leather upgrade which includes choice of the ‘Arabica' (brown-toned) trim usually only available for Range Rover Sport models. Exterior brightwork including silver bonnet script and silver-finished fender vents are added to help make this Discovery more distinct. The tailgate wears a badge reading ‘HSE Luxury' and door handles are body coloured to suit the choice of exterior colours; reserved to three: Santorini Black, Orkney Grey and only for this Discovery, Havana metallic brown. Its $110K price positions the Discovery HSE Luxury between the V6 TDI and V8 petrol models. The choice of cabin trim for the limited edition Discovery is akin to treatment offered to customers of its top-flight Autobiography models, said Land Rover spokesman James Scrimshaw. The Discovery Luxury model was on LR's stand at last week's New York Auto Show and details on its delivery to Australian dealers has just been released, however Scrimshaw anticipates strong customer demand for this latest limited edition Discovery. The ‘Black and White Edition' Discovery was also limited to 100 models and soon sold out after its release here in 2010. On sales, Land Rover Australia reported its best-ever month in March; moving 985 models -- mainly Discovery (257), Range Rover Sport (224) and new compact SUV segment entry Evoque (216). Prior to the release of the March VFACTS figures, JLR's Marketing and Public Affairs Manager, Tim Krieger told motoring.com.au that the importer is very happy with the Evoque numbers locally, but Freelander supply is not holding up its end. "Our dealers are still reporting very high enquiry and demand on the [Evoque]," he said. Evoque is outselling Freelander currently as a consequence diesel engine production not meeting the demand. "We're supplying a lot more Evoque because we are supply-constrained on Freelander at the moment." Land Rover expects the Discovery 4's current form "will see it through" at least 2013, said Scrimshaw. Release of the Discovery 5 is anticipated for 2016. "The HSE Luxury Limited Edition is probably the most luxurious specification yet offered on the Discovery 4, with striking exterior treatments and colour choices allowing customers to stamp their own personality on the vehicle.
