The original Batmobile from the 1960s "Batman" TV series is to be sold at a Scottsdale, Ariz., auction, its creator said. George Barris, 87, who created the car by customizing a 1955 Lincoln Futura, said it will be auctioned Jan. 19 by the Barrett-Jackson auction house, the New York Daily News reported Friday. "It's a big part of my life," Barris said. "But I thought about it and decided it should be shared with people around the world, not sitting in my showroom in North Hollywood." Barris said he purchased the car from the Ford Motor Co. for only $1 and spent $15,000 on the customization that turned it into the Batmobile. The auction house said the car is expected to sell for "multiple millions."
