The Japanese auto giant Nissan, part of the Renault-Nissan alliance with Russian car maker AvtoVAZ, intends to invest an additional 167 million euros in expanding its production facilities in St. Petersburg in northwest Russia by 2014, a Nissan official said on Monday. “Additional investment will total 167 million euros,” Nissan Motor Executive Vice-President Colin Dodge said. Nissan intends to double the St. Petersburg plant’s capacity to 100,000 cars annually by 2014 and start producing five Nissan models from 2015, up from the current three, he said. Nissan's only assembly plant in St Petersburg produces the Nissan Teana, Nissan X-Trail and Nissan Murano models.
