Washington - UPI

U.S. regulators said they were investigating sixth-generation Chevrolet Corvettes due to intermittent problems with low-beam headlights. The Chicago Tribune reported Saturday that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has fielded 30 complaints about the sports car's headlight system. The low-beam lights can fail with no warning, the incident reports said. "The NHTSA is opening this investigation to evaluate the scope, frequency, and consequence of the alleged defect," the regulatory agency said in a statement. The investigating is focused on 2005-17 model Corvettes. About 103,000 vehicles could be affected by the investigation, the Tribune said. The NHTSA also said the problem is not associated with high beams or fog lights and that the low-beams become functional again after a period of time. The low beams have been particularly noted to work again after the vehicles have been parked for a period of time, the NHTSA said.
