General Motors will recall 8,789 Cadillac vehicles due potential problems with a transmission shift cable, regulators in Washington said. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Cadillac SRX vehicles made from Oct. 26, 2008 through June 23, 2011, included transmission shift cables that could come out of a transmission bracket. This could make the vehicle unable to move or it could result in drivers believing the transmission is in the park position, when it is not. The recall is expected to begin in January. Correcting the problem will be free of charge, GM said. Consumers can call 866-982-2339 for information.
