Dubai - Arab Today

The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has started installing interactive LCD screens offering Wi-Fi mobile Internet in its taxi cabs. So far 200 LCD screens have been fitted to 100 DTC taxicabs serving Dubai airports under a move that will cover 3,500 cabs by the end of the first quarter of this year. Mansour Rahma Al Falasi, acting CEO of DTC said: "This project is part of DTC's plan to avail edge-cutting technologies and smart services to customers. A three-year contract to this effect was awarded to Techno Line Company at the end of last year, under which 3,500 DTC taxicabs will be fitted with LCD screens to keep pace with state-of-the-art technologies.” "Customers can use these LCD screens to log in to multitudes of websites including Emirates Airline and Dubai Airports among others. They can also access the internet service on their own devices to review different advertisements published by the DTC and the RTA, and marketing & promotional offers made by various interested public and private institutions which buy or rent such advertising spaces in direct coordination with Techno Line Company. In addition to that customers can file complaints, submit suggestions, offer thanks to cabbies and avail special offers through these interactive screens,” added Al Falasi. “These interactive LCD screens have been fitted with DTC’s corporate identity and they display various information about taxi fares, prices of services, events and activities organized by DTC both internally & externally, as well as services and initiatives on offer to customers. They also show icons for questionnaires conducted by the DTC to probe customer views and public opinion on services offered in different seasons,” explained Al Falasi. “The DTC is implementing this project in the light of the new drive to migrate to the smart government in the emirate of Dubai, provide premium services, and capitalize on the latest technology in offering and upgrading various services at par with the best international standards applicable in developed countries,” Al Falasi added.
