German car company BMW aims to increase US sales by 25% from about 240,000 units this year, Automotive News Europe reported, citing an interview with Ludwig Willisch, head of the its North American operations. Willisch said BMW is targeting the increase to 300,000 unit sales in the mid-term. Company officials said the aim is to reach that figure by 2013-14, according to the report. Willisch declined to give a specific year when BMW wants to reach its goal, but believes the target is attainable because of a refreshed model portfolio that will feature the new-generation 3-series sedan starting in early 2012 and might include the X1 small crossover.
