US congratulates Moldova, Romania on gas pipeline

The US congratulated the people of Moldova, Romania and the EU Wednesday for the inauguration of the lasi-Ungheni gas pipeline.
"This 43-kilometer pipeline will bring the first benefits of energy supply diversification to Moldova including access to Europe's competitive market and increased energy security," said State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki to reporters.
She added that the US is "committed to helping Moldova achieve these goals through programs that improve the regulatory environment and reduce energy consumption."
