Baku - Anadolu
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz on Monday stated that Turkey would continue its positive attitude to work on significant projects with the states in the region. Yildiz attended the "Visions for the South Caucasus and Central Asia" titled programme at the World Economic Forum held in Baku. Azerbaijani President ?lham Aliyev, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Djoomart Otorbaev and Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev were present at the opening session of the forum where Yildiz delivered a speech evaluating Turkey's energy policies and energy cooperation with other states in the region. Touching on Turkey's economic development, Yildiz said that Turkey had doubled its structure in the energy sector in the last decade. Stating that Turkey developed the South Stream Pipeline project with Russia, and TANAP with Azerbaijan, Yildiz said they have come to an agreement with Iran on natural gas and continued their cooperation with Iraq in regards to oil and natural gas. Although Turkey didn't approve of the Syrian regime, government allowed electricity sale when necessary, Yildiz said, adding: "Similarly we provide electricity to the Greek Cypriot administration when required. Turkey will continue its positive attitude by making use of the advantages arising from its geography to work on significant projects with the states in the region. Turkey is a bridge between the consumption point, Europe and production point, Asia. Turkey will continue its contribution to the development of the region without exploiting geographical advantages, in a positive manner. Turkey considers 2023 and 2030 targets as very realistic. On one side it attempts to meet its own needs with renewable energy sources while on the other hand it continues purchasing oil, natural gas and coal."
