Marsa Alam Mayor Youssef el-Shahed said that 250,000 meters were allocated to establish a station for generating electricity by using solar energy.
El-Shahed told MENA on Monday that the city finished the measures of allocating the plot of land according to directives by Governor Ahmed Abdullah.
A committee, grouping an UAE delegation and representatives of the Canal Company for Electricity Distribution, will examine and receive the land, he noted.
The production rate of the station is expected to reach 6 Megawatts which will participate in urban expansion as well as tourist development in the city, el-Shahed underscored.
Meanwhile, Behira Governor Moustafa Hadhoud said that Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab approved the allocation of land for building a station for recycling agricultural wastes (rice straw) and transforming it into organic fertilizers.
