
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Mohammad Hamed, opened on Monday a solar power project of the Marwa Company, located in Marka district east of Amman.
The 1.1-megawatt project has been set up at an estimated cost of one million dinar. Hamed underlined the importance of solar system's cells and referred to the growing demand for it in various sectors since it helps slash the energy bill.
He pointed out that the size of solar energy generating plants which have been installed in the Kingdom is only 10 megawatts , and the energy produced is distributed to domestic, industrial, commercial and agricultural sectors.
Consolidated Energy and Economic Engineering CEO Mansour Murad said the project contributes towards easing the expenditure on electricity to the tune of 300,000 dinars per year, and stressed the importance of the project in preserving the environment.
