Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab on Monday received representatives of the US-Canadian Sky Power company for solar energy projects.
Egypt's Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker and Canada's Ambassador to Cairo Troy Lulashnyk attended the meeting.
Cabinet Spokesman Hossam Qawish said that the company's representatives presented an offer to establish new energy projects in Egypt at a cost of $ 5 billion.
The projects will provide about 600 megawatts from solar energy, planned to be increased up to about 3,000 megawatts, and will provide about 74.593 jobs, the company's representatives said.
The PM tasked the electricity minister to meet with them after Egypt's Economic Development Conference (EEDC) in Sharm El Sheikh, to discuss the technical and financial details for the proposed projects, the spokesman said.
