President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's planned visit to Germany will see the signing of a number of contracts in the fields of energy, housing, infrastructure, education and training, Egypt's Ambassador in Berlin Mohamed Hegazi said on Tuesday.
Hegazi made the remarks during a press conference held at the Egyptian embassy's headquarters to detail the program of the visit planned for early June and the meetings Sisi is expected to hold with senior German officials topped by President Joachim Gauck, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier as well as a host of politicians, lawmakers, media professionals and company officials.
During the conference, the Egyptian diplomat pointed out to the Egyptian community's support for President Sisi, noting that Egypt will introduce initiatives for cooperation with Germany and will sign strategic contracts.
He reviewed the future of relations between the two countries and the new projects in Egypt like the administrative capital, the Suez Canal Development Corridor, along with the volume of German tourism in Egypt, Egypt's role in the region and the World Economic Forum planned to be held in Sharm el Sheikh.
"We expect that Germany supports Egypt in its fight against terrorism and expands the horizons of bilateral economic and investment relations," Hegazi added.
About the terrorist threats, Hegazi said: "Egypt and the region are experiencing brutal attack from terrorism, and due to Egypt's regional and international position, it is considered a defensive wall against terrorism that threatens the security of the region, the cultural and religious life, the Arab countries and the whole world."
He added that Egypt looks forward that Germany and the West will fight terrorism led by the Muslim Brotherhood and other extremist groups like Daesh.
