Egypt, JICA sign deal to upgrade Gabal el-Zeit power plant

Electricity Ministry and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed on Tuesday an agreement to upgrade Gabal el Zeit power plant, western Egypt, Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company Ahmed el Hanafy said on Tuesday.
The power plant will be enhanced at a total cost of EGP 57.4 million, he said, adding that the JUCA will finance the foreign components while the local ones will be financed by the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company.
The agreement is part of the ministry's plan to improve the national electricity grid.
