Crimea praises Ukraine’s decision to sell electricity to peninsula

Crimea on Tuesday praised the Ukrainian government’s decision to allow Ukrinterenergo to sell electricity to the peninsula and the federal city of Sevastopol.
“This is the settlement of the dispute. Earlier, there was an instruction to conduct an auction on electricity sales to Crimea. A company, which would deal with this, should appear. After today’s decision I can say such auction won’t be conducted,” Crimean Minister of Fuel and Energy Sergey Yegorov told TASS.
“This information is pleasant for us,” he said.
Earlier, the government’s website said the auction for determining a company, which will deal with electricity sales to Crimea and Sevastopol, had not been conducted. Thus, the Ukrainian government agreed with the Energy Ministry’s proposal for Ukrinterenergo to sell electricity to Crimea and Sevastopol.
Yegorov told TASS that as of today Ukraine supplied at least 650 MWt of electricity to Ukraine. At present, there are no rotating power cuts.
