A U.A.E. paper has said that going by the examples of the individuals who have already adopted solar power to serve their domestic energy needs in Dubai, the future appears to be extremely positive for Dubai’s ability to harness clean energy.
"Consumers, it seems, are eagerly awaiting the finalisation and roll-out of Dubai’s project for solar power use that will be fed into its main grid for domestic and commercial usage," said Gulf News in its editorial on Monday.
The need to make this switch at the earliest makes itself evident 365 days of the year given the abundance of sunshine the region is blessed with.
Societies that harness solar power as a primary energy source help both the authorities and the consumers bask in a win-win situation, with the benefits including a reduction in energy bills, increased environmental health and better conservation of the depleting traditional energy resources.
The sooner the authorities in Dubai roll out the rooftop solar power project, the faster can consumers avail of the benefits. The proposed plan to offer financial incentives for those who make the switch is excellent.
The Dubai-based daily concluded by saying: "Every idea that encourages people to reduce their carbon footprint is one step closer to U.A.E.’s Vision 2021."
