Bahrain is to establish multi-billion-dollar energy projects that would contribute to further development, Minister of Finance Sheikh Ahmad bin Mohammad Al-Khalifa said Tuesday. Sheikh Ahmad, also Minister in charge of Oil and Gas Affairs, said the projects would also include electricity and water, and other industrial ventures. Addressing the opening session of Meed energy forum 2014, Sheikh Ahmad called on investment companies to exploit opportunities in the gas and oil sector. Bahrain will provide facilities to the investment firms namely oil companies, he said, "which will reflect on Bahrain's openness in energy domains." Sheikh Ahmad noted that the forum would discuss Bahrain's long-term energy strategy for the upstream, downstream, power and water sector and the investment outlook, in addition to the use of new technologies to preserving environment. The Meed forum marks the 80th anniversary of export of the first crude oil shipment from Bahrain.
