
The Arab Union of Producers, Transporters and Distributors of Electricity on Wednesday expressed readiness to help Yemen overcome the existing power shortage. During his meeting Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa in Sana'a today, Union's chairman Essa al-Kuwari said that the Union is ready to provide all the expertise and assistance required to tackle the power shortage in Yemen. Chairman and members of the Union's Board of Directors briefed the Premier on the topics included in the agenda of the 38th session of the Union Board of Directors kicked off today in Sana'a, with the participation of a number of heads and representatives of Arab electrical institutions. During the meeting, Basindwa reviewed the electricity current situation in Yemen, and the repeated attacks on electricity transmission lines and their negative effects on the whole Yemeni people. He underlined the government's keenness to find sustainable solutions to develop the electricity generation capacities, expressing the government's desire to benefit from the experience of the Union.
