Algeria is called to increase the volume of its hydrocarbon supplies to Europe and strengthen its contribution to this region’s energy security, said Wednesday in The Hague Foreign Affairs Minister Ramtane Lamamra. “Algeria is expected to increase its hydrocarbon supplies to Europe and contribute to ensure its energy security,” Lamamra told journalists at the end of his working visit to the Netherlands. In this regard, the minister underlined that the Netherlands, very concerned about the issue of Europe’s energy security, displayed “a particular interest in the strengthening of Algeria’s role in the preservation of this security by increasing its supplies.” “But Algeria has its own ambitions and prospects,” he said, adding that these prospects “are part of the continuation of the programme of president of the Republic which includes the approach that Algeria will adopt for the next five years, particularly regarding the consolidation of democracy, democratisation of public services and the strengthening of development achievements.”
