The Advisory Committee of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has held its meeting at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA’s) Centre in Jebel Ali. The meeting was headed by Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice President of Generation (Power & Water Power) at DEWA.
"The Advisory Committee in the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy was formed to study various energy programmes and projects in Dubai and present their recommendations. This supports the vision of our wise leadership and the Dubai Plan 2021 to make Dubai sustainable and innovative in managing its resources," said Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.
"The Committee has studied different options to increase using district cooling systems across Dubai, particularly in new projects. They studied data and analysed costs. District-cooling systems are more environmentally-friendly and use less energy compared to traditional air conditioning systems, thus help reduce the carbon footprint," added Al Muhairbi.
"The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy is currently reviewing the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 by analysing existing programmes and projects to decide the strategic direction for the coming years. This will be based on the latest developments in energy technology and prices," concluded Al Muhairbi.
