The Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) in Austria has presented its newly-designed weather knowledge park to the media to coincide with World Meteorological Day on Monday.
The park is stationed on the Hohe Warte hill in Vienna, and is designed to provide visitors with knowledge on weather, climate, and the environment, with a focus on interactivity, the ZAMG stated in a press release.
"We have many school classes visit, but also a number of companies and private groups of adults," said ZAMG Director Michael Staudinger, emphasising the focus of the various stations of the park is not just on children.
Visitors can learn about various things such as climate change and glacier formation, and explore the properties of various climate zones, as well as try out a variety of measuring equipment.
Guided tours centred on themes such as earthquakes and weather forecasts are also planned in future. The ZAMG said these belong to its "Citizen Science" program, that the central weather institute hopes to use to open dialogue with the public and an information exchange with the sciences.
