The White House is expected to ask Congress for around $5.9 billion in emergency aid in the wake of mega storm Harvey, which left swaths of Texas and Louisiana inundated, a US government official told AFP.
The emergency funding request is expected to come as soon as Friday. President Donald Trump said earlier that his administration was "working on emergency funding.
