US stocks surge for 2nd straight day, S&P 500 up 2.44%

US stocks posted big gains for the second straight session Thursday as strong American economic data extended a global rally that began with a surge in beaten-down Chinese equities.
At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 2.27 percent. The broad-based S&P 500 jumped 2.44 percent, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 2.45 percent.
