US stocks tumbled in opening trade Monday, joining a global sell-off sparked by a 7 percent plunge in the Shanghai stock market.
Ten minutes into trade in the first session of 2016, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 2.1 percent, the S&P 500 2.0 percent and the Nasdaq Composite Index 2.4 percent.
