Samsung Electronics flags 10% rise in first quarter profit

Samsung Electronics on Thursday flagged a 10 percent on-year increase in profits for a first quarter that saw robust sales of the South Korean electronics giant's new Galaxy S7 smartphone. The world's largest smartphone producer said operating profit in the January-March period was expected to reach around 6.6 trillion won ($5.6 billion), up from 6.0 trillion won a year ago. |
