Milan's main share price index rose more than 3 percent on Tuesday after reassuring comments from Germany on finding a solution to recapitalise Italian banks and avoid a crisis.
Just before 1300 GMT the FTSE Mib index was up 3.1 percent at 16,763 points, with shares in Unicredit surging more than 13 percent.
