Tokyo stocks plunged more than three percent at close Monday as the surging yen hit exporters in holiday-thinned trade. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index slumped 3.11 percent, or 518.67 points, to close at 16,147.38, while the Topix index of all first-section shares lost 3.03 percent, or 40.59 points, at 1,299.96. |
