Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng Index surged more than three percent in morning trading on Thursday, despite continued sharp falls in mainland China's stock markets.
The Hang Seng Index gained 3.19 percent, or 751.01 points, to 24,267.57 by 10:12 am (0212 GMT).
