EU launches probe into UK tax scheme for multinationals

The European Commission on Thursday announced a major probe into a British tax scheme allowing multinationals to pay less tax by exempting some types of transaction.
"We will carefully look at an exemption to the UK's anti-tax avoidance rules for certain transactions by multinationals, to make sure it does not breach EU State aid rules," EU competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager said in a statement
