Australia's economy grows 1.1% in January-March, 3.1% on-year

Australia's economy expanded by a stronger-than-expected 1.1 percent in January to March, driven by net exports and household spending, to take the annual rate of growth to 3.1 percent, official data showed Wednesday.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics figures, which were released a month before national elections, were well above expectations of a 0.8 percent reading for the first quarter.
