Fairouz denies she has 'died'

Rumours occasionally circulate about the death of well-known Lebanese figures, and this time it was the turn of the great Lebanese singer Fairouz. The media reported the death of the famous singer at the American University Hospital in Beirut, which Arabstoday found totally untrue. Rumour-mongers implied that her death came after a long battle with an incurable disease. Arabstoday learned that Fairouz, whose real name is Nihad Haddad, was in fact at her home in the Raouche area on the Beirut coast, where she discussed with her  lawyer over dinner about how to handle the denial of these false reports. Meanwhile, Fairouz said she has received phone calls from high-profile Lebanese personalities, asking about her health following the spread of the false information.
