Solaf Fawakherji
Damascus - Arab Today

Syrian actress Solaf Fawakherji expressed her resentment over the way to deal with the Syrian drama, saying that the Syrian drama is about to collapse. She blamed the production companies for the current state of Syrian drama, as the Syrian artist cannot resist such destruction individually.
She called the Syrian government for interfering in both public and private sectors to save the national drama as one of the important industries to keep its national identity. She stressed her support for the Arab works as they serve specific objectives, while stressed the need for supporting the national drama.
She added that she decided to suspend dealing with General Establishment of Cinema as a director not actress, blaming the current administration for not honoring its promises to produce her new film “Madad”. She said that they cancelled their promise after two years of procrastination, saying that they raised a number of weak excuses.
She added, “What happened with me is a shame. I am one of high-profile actresses not only in Syria but also in the Arab world as whole. Their failure to honor their commitment to produce the movie put me in an embarrassing position.
She added, “My choice with a large number of Syrian artists was to support the Syrian drama in its critical period since the beginning of the crisis, while we failed to achieve positive results.” She added that she returned to the Egyptian drama, expressing her appreciation to the Egyptian producers. She said that she was contacting with the Egyptian producers during the recent years.
She added that she received increasing offers to participate in a number of dramatic works in Egypt during the recent years, while she did not find the suitable role. She stressed her keenness to choose her roles carefully during the current period not to undermine her career.
