Public Transportation Program (MPTP)
Jeddah - Arab News

Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, governor of Makkah, signed a contract to import, operate and maintain Makkah Public Transportation Program (MPTP) buses with an alliance of national and international specialized companies.
Hisham Al-Faleh, secretary-general of the Makkah Development Authority, which is supervising the program, said that the new buses will help in facilitating the circulation of traffic in Makkah, putting a limit to the social and economic losses resulting from car accidents and reducing environmental pollution.
This program is expected to provide more than 10,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.
Prince Khaled expressed appreciation on behalf of the people of Taif and for himself to King Salman for inaugurating the program that costs SR11 billion ($2.93 billion). This program falls among Vision 2030 programs.
Earlier, Prince Khaled said that local transport projects should keep pace with the increasing number of pilgrims.
He said that Makkah transport projects should achieve their targets to facilitate the citizens and pilgrims
